One of the smallest flying prehistoric creatures was the Pterodactylus. Its name means wing finger because of the long fingerlike bones of its hands. The Pterodactylus is flying reptile a pterosaur, that lived in the late Jurassic period over 145 million years ago. The Pterodactylus was a fish eater who built its nest near the water.
